SARANI, a Non-Governmental Organization, was started in 1973 in Kolkata. An organization mainly comprised of volunteers, SARANI has become a platform of philanthropists from several walks of life with welfare as its sole motive.

In 1973 Dr. Krishna Pada Sarkar strongly believe in giving “time, money or valuable assets” to help make the world a better place and established NGO SARANI, a registered social organization.  He was a doctor who began his professional carrier in British Indian Army during the 2^nd world war, he was a broad hearted person who always fell for underprivileged people. The organization was started with the blessings of MOTHER Teresa .With its base in Kolkata, SARANI over more than four decades has thus been able to bring smiles to many faces.

The main focus of SARANI in the past decades has been education and extending fiscal help to cancer affected patients. Women Empowerment at the grass root level has also been one of the key areas where SARANI works diligently. In remote areas of rural Bengal, SARANI is active in holding medical camps, especially eye checkup camps and free medicine distribution centers. .Fighting the menace of Drugs is also a major agenda of this Society. Rehabilitation camps and counseling are organized at regular intervals.
